The University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) is a great institution for acquiring knowledge in different academic fields.
The University aims to develop it's students (Lions and Lionesses) in Character and Learning.

1) UNN was founded in 1955 by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first President of Nigeria and former premier of the eastern region.
For context, since Nigeria gained it's independence in 1960, the University of Nigeria Nsukka is older than Nigeria as an independent country.
2) UNN is the first autonomous and indigenous University in Nigeria. It is the first university in Nigeria to hand out it's own degrees.
3) From 1967-1970, UNN was known as the University of Biafra. This was during the Nigerian civil war, when the Biafran forces controlled the Eastern Region.
4) The University of Nigeria has four campuses.
They are
a) The University of Nigeria, Nsukka campus. This is the main campus of the University.
b) The University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. It is popularly referred to as UNEC. It hosts the Medical and Law faculties of the University, among others.
c) University of Nigeria Itutu Ozalla campus. Also known as University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH).
d) University of Nigeria, Aba Campus (UNAC). It hosts the Institute of Nigerian Languages.
5) The first open heart surgery in West Africa was performed in 1964, at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH).
6) UNN has an average population of 40,000 students, divided evenly between boys and girls.

7) UNN is the first Federal University to build a fully embedded technology hub inside the University Campus.
The name is Roar Hub and it was established by former Vice Chancellor Prof. B C Ozumba to foster technology growth, Entrepreneurship and startups in the University.
