How To Become Friends With Your Lecturers In UNN

Imagine this, you are sitting in your lecturers neatly painted office and both of you are chatting and laughing about random topics. Then when you are about to leave, your lecturer advices you and gives you premium information and materials that will make your life and academics stress free for that semester.

Lecturers don't just give this type of access or information to anyone. In fact, the only way to enjoy such benefits is if you become FRIENDS with your lecturers.

However, most students don't know how to develop a positive and respectful friendship with their lecturers. They either fear the lecturers or avoid them like a plague.

The truth is that, being friends with lecturers comes with enormous benefits. From attending to your academic needs or problems, to giving you moral and academic support. Depending on how close you become with them, they might even buy you garri when you are broke.

- Greeting Them Regularly

This is a no brainer. Your 'good morning sir' and 'good morning ma' will help develop a positive perspective about you to your lecturers. Regularly greeting your lecturers will go a long in building friendship with them

- Dressing and Behavior

Your dress sense and behavior is important when dealing with lecturers. You can't dress like a savage and expect to be close with lecturers. 

Also, your general behaviour and approach in class and around the department matters. If you are humble and treat everyone with respect, your lecturers will like you.

- Class Participation

Lecturers love students that participate actively in class. 

They have a soft spot for students who attend lectures regularly and make the class interactive.

Therefore, coming early to lectures, taking notes and engaging actively in a lecturers class will endear you to your lecturers.

- Appreciating Your Lecturers

A man's gift maketh way for him. Everyone in life wants to feel appreciated and lecturers are no exception.

The appreciation could be words, thanking them for a good lecture or for answering your question. It could in form of physical gifts, or it could be praising their published works.

Whichever it is, be rest assured that appreciating your lecturers is a good way to become friends with them

- Perform Well Academically

This is the most important point. While other points involves you making the effort to become close with your lecturers, when you perform excellently academically, your lecturers will be the ones making the effort to be friends with you.

On a more serious note, lecturers are attracted to successful students and they like to help them in anyway possible. 

So if you can perform well academically, you're guaranteed to be friends with most of your lecturers.
