The University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) campus was once a safe space for student in their academic pursuit. However, this has changed due to the alarming rate of missing Students in the Campus.
Since the beginning of the 2023 academic year, UNN Students now go missing on a weekly basis.
Last week Friday, a UNN Student whose name is Asogwa Adams was declared missing after he left to see someone inside the campus.
He was later found dead where his body was dumped at an uncompleted building at the outskirt of the campus. Reports allege that he was murdered and his body dragged to the site.
Just Yesterday, another student, this time a lady has been declared missing.
Her name is Ejim Blessing Ijeoma and she is a student of the department of Mass Communication.
Up to the point of writing this, her whereabout is still unknown to her Family, Friends or the school authorities.
This recent development has made UNN students feel unsafe inside the campus. They now go about their daily activities with fear of the unknown as anybody can be next.
It is therefore important that the school authority step up security measures to stop her students from been kidnapped or missing again.
The Vice Chancellor Professor Charles Igwe must ensure he does everything in his power to make UNN Students feel safe and secure on Campus as that is his primary duty.
